Dr. Norman B. Gaylis is recognized as one of the country's leaders in the field of arthritis, autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis. He is a practicing rheumatologist based in Aventura, Miami, Florida. Dr. Gaylis has presented numerous scientific papers at medical meetings around the world and is the author of a number of research articles on rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, MRI Imaging in RA and osteoporosis.
Dr. Gaylis is actively involved in ongoing clinical studies on a variety of arthritis drugs and other treatments. He lectures nationally and internationally to other physicians on multiple topics and is a firm believer in a multidisciplinary holistic approach to the treatment of rheumatic diseases. 
Dr. Gaylis is the recipient of many awards and honors. He is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology, for which he has served on the Council of Rheumatology Care and currently serves on the Foundation for Research and Education. Dr. Gaylis contributed and edited "Lupus Lifeline", a publication of the Dade-Broward Lupus Foundation. He hosted "HEALTHTALK", a weekly radio program on local radio for many years. He has received the Florida Medical Association communication award for his radio show and he also writes a monthly column for the Aventura Community Newspaper.
In January 2008, Dr. Gaylis joined the Medical Advisory Board of the prestigious journal Rheumatology News.
Dr. Gaylis is a Medical Graduate of the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and completed his Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Miami. He is a past Clinical Professor at the University of Miami, where he taught Rheumatologists in training for more than 25 years. He is the past president of the Florida Society of Rheumatology and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology and a certified bone densitometry reader.
