Onsite Services

Infusion Therapy

We have a state-of-the-art infusion center dedicated to all infusion products in the field of Rheumatology including medications used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and osteoporosis. Our infusion suite is also capable of handling the infusion needs of other medical specialties

At Arthritis & Rheumatic Disease Specialties, we have dedicated a significant section of our office to our Infusion Services, with special infusion chairs and a caring comfortable environment, providing privacy and audiovisual relief. The treatment is provided by a dedicated team of specially trained personnel.

In-office infusions allow a patient to avoid the use of a hospital outpatient service which is often inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Speak to your rheumatologist about the benefits of infusion therapy.

X-ray Facility

On-site digital x-ray equipment is operated by a certified x-ray technologist. We can perform x-rays on the complete body and performing this service in-house allows for fast turnaround time, detailed images and immediate interpretation and diagnosis. Patients can receive treatment immediately if their insurance allows us to do so.

Bone Densitometry (DEXA)

Our Physicians are certified in the interpretation of bon density tests.

Dr. Gaylis since 1986 and the practice have been one of the leaders in the utilization of new diagnostic tools and treatment options for the management of osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis can be well managed and both men and women should be screened for this preventable and treatable disease.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Our practice has had the first in-office MRI in the state of Florida. Dr. Gaylis is a founder and the past president of the International Society for Musculoskeletal Imaging in Rheumatology (ISEMIR). MRI has been established as an integral diagnostic tool in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Our MRI is an open MRI and extremely user friendly reducing the stress, claustrophobia, and discomfort that may often be part of the MRI testing procedure.

All of our MRIs are interpreted by a board certified musculoskeletal Radiologist who has been working with the practice for the past 15 years. Our MRI center is a certified MRI center and operates under the supervision of our certified MRI technologist.

You can learn more about MRI imaging and the use of imaging in rheumatology by visiting the ISEMIR website http://www.isemir.org/.

Ultrasound

Our Physicians are trained experts in the use of Ultrasound technology to improve the comfort and effectiveness of joint and spine injections.

We have a certified Ultrasound technologist who assists the physicians to perform the diagnostic procedures in a real time environment dedicated to arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases.

Physical Therapy

We offer comprehensive Physical/Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation. Our board-certified physical therapist has been successfully focusing her treatments on musculoskeletal and arthritic disorders for the past 20 years. We are an approved Medicare center and offer services to both the Medicare and the Private Insurance patients.

As part of our philosophy of treatment, we believe in teaching and helping patients to reach their maximum level of performance through a combination of joint protection exercise individualized to meet the specific needs of the patient, by the use of adaptive devices for the activities of everyday living, and by helping to teach the patients who are at increased risk of injury due to their arthritis a safer way to perform daily tasks.

Osteoporosis Treatment

I have been treating osteoporosis for over 30 years during which time me we went from having no treatment options except calcium and vitamin D to having multiple treatment options today. Many patients suffered fractures of the spine or other bones, because osteoporosis was like an epidemic affecting almost every postmenopausal woman to some extent. The good news is that, over the course of my career, there have been vast changes in both the way the diagnosis of the disease is made using DXA scanning and the management of the disease using early intervention.
